Candy Cane Lane Bag in a Box

I told you recently I had a Christmas Bag in a Box in my head and here it is.  Such a cute and simple box!  Who do you need to give a little something to this Christmas?  This little box could be exactly what you need.  I know some teenagers who would love to receive this box with money inside. 🙂

The directions to make the box are here.

I had a great time at the Stamping Business Builder’s Retreat in Wisconsin.  Lisa Pretto does a great job!

While I was gone, the floors were finished in my dining room and stamping office.  The windows and sliding door will get installed next Wednesday and Thursday.  My Stamp N Storage arrived too!

Blessings,

Beth 🙂

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for October 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month our projects feature cards made using “wicked” folds. What is a “wicked” fold? It is anything other than the standard A2 card fold. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

The little gingerbread house that I snipped out of the Candy Cane Lane DSP is adorable!

Were you surprised to see the cute gingerbread kids on the inside?  I hope it made you smile!

All the supplies I used are shown at the bottom of this post.  The red card base is 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 2-3/4″ and 5-1/2″. The smaller red piece is 2-1/4″ x 11″.  I had to make it that wide to cover the gingerbread kids when the card was shut.  The white “snow pieces” are (2 pieces) 2-1/2″ x 4 and (1) 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Please email me if you have any questions. Here’s the view from the top.  You may be able to see I used the Softly Falling embossing folder to have “snow” all over the background of the card.

Trio of Halloween Bag in a Box, boxes

Here’s the directions to make a Bag in a Box.

All you need is a 6″ x 6″cardstock or DSP, Envelope punch board, adhesive, embellishments to decorate as desired and candy to fill the box. 🙂

  1.   Using the Envelope punch board, line up the left edge of the paper at 1 3/8″ and punch and score down the diagonal line to the right.  Move the paper to the left and line it up at 4″, punch and score the same as before. Rotate the paper to the remaining three sides and use the scored lines as a guide to punch and score all three sides.

2.  Cut down the score lines on both sides on top and bottom near the A and B to make the tabs.

3.  Use the Reverse Punch at the top center of the board.  This will corner round your edges on all four corners.  The picture above shows what your paper should look like after steps 1,2 and 3 are finished.

4.  Fold the two C’s together in the center and wrap the A’s and B’s around each side of the C’s. An A overlaps a B on one side of the box and the same thing happens on the other side of the box. Apply adhesive.

5. Fold the D tabs back and apply adhesive or let the flop depending on the how you want it to look.

6. I used a 1/2″ Circle Punch and made a handle by punching through one C and then lining up with the other C and punching again.

7. Decorate as desired.

Congrats to my team member Lynn Tague for promoting to Bronze Elite!  She signed with me June 1, 2016 and already promoted in September! Please check out her blog here.  This stamp set is the gift from me that she got to choose to celebrate her promotion.  I dressed it up to make it look cute.  I love the new red glitter embossing powder I used on the tag.  Please email me if you’ve ever thought about signing up to purchase Stampin’ Up! at a discount.  Lynn did and I think she’s pretty happy with her decision.

Look what “popped” up in my backyard this week.  It’s a sunroom being added on to the back of my house.  24 years ago when Superman and I were looking for a house, I wanted one with a sunroom so it would be easier to get some sunshine during the long winter months.  Superman promised me we would add one someday since we have no windows on the south side of our house.  About eight years ago we signed with a contractor to build a sunroom and we checked his references and Better Business Bureau etc. and 30 days later he went out of business taking thousands of our dollars with him.  We saved up money a second time and with much prayer and some lack of sleep on my part, we again signed with a contractor for a sunroom.  Along with the sunroom we are turning another room into a stamping office for me complete with cabinets, countertops and Stamp n Storage organization.  I have a link at the bottom of the right column where you can click on Stamp n Storage and get 10% off. Anyway it’s supposed to be done by Thanksgiving and since I host a big family Thanksgiving at my house, I hope that truly happens.   If you’re wondering why it took me so long on the Bag in a Box directions, I’ve spent about fifteen hours at the cabinet store in the last two days finalizing the counter tops and cabinets.  All summer we were consumed with making decisions about this project and I’m kind of relieved most of the decisions have been made.  I’m also very pleased that there is a shell of a room attached to my house.  I’ll let you know how it goes.  So far, so good!

I need to get some sleep, Abby and I take off for our college visit to The University of Oklahoma Sunday morning.

Hope you’re having a great weekend.

Blessings,

Beth 🙂
