Peekaboo Farm

It’s time for another Festive Friday Challenge!  It’s fun being a designer for Festive Friday and this week’s challenge #FF0119 is Farmer’s Day which is October 12th. I grew up on a Hobby Farm in eastern Iowa between Davenport and Muscatine. We had 10 acres, cows, rabbits, dogs, tractors, hay fields, a big vegetable garden, etc. It was a great place to grow up! As kids, we were responsible for feeding the animals. I also enjoyed riding on the mower behind the big tractor helping my Dad mow the ditches. I was in 4-H for nine years and learned many life skills, showed steers at the county fair and learned to be a hard worker. Did you grow up on a farm? I’d love to hear about it.

The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project. Incorporate THREE or more of the items in your project and link up! #festivefridaychallenge  I hope you’ll make a card, scrapbook page or 3-D item and join us. If you want help entering, please email me at Beth@StampingMom.com and I’d be happy to help you! From the Inspo List I used farm animal, gingham, green, kraft card.

I really like how this card turned out. It’s certainly #bright&happy! Because of the way this card is made, I’ll have to write on the back of it.

Card Details:

  • clouds-Give it a Whirls dies, Balmy Blue CS
  • bow- Starry Sky Metallic Woven Ribbon
  • stone wall- 1-1/4″ front flap, Stampin’ Blends- Smoky Slate
  • farm animals- Stampin’ Blends- Petal Pink, Soft Suede
  • birds- Stampin’ Blends- Real Red, Daffodil Delight
  • stamped grass inside the card- Oceanfront stamp set
  • cardstock grass inside the card- Gingham embossing folder

You can see all the products I used to make this card and order from my online store at the bottom of this post.

Don’t miss the pictures and family story farther down in the post.

Sean’s wife, Amy, was so excited to be in Iowa in September. She really wanted to experience a Corn Maze, Apple Orchard, Pumpkin Patch and Sunflower Field. Steve, Sean, Amy and I spent the afternoon on Sunday at the Center Grove Orchard in Cambridge, Iowa. It’s about 30 minutes from our house and had all of the activities Amy wanted plus more. Here’s Amy looking adorable in her overalls and pig tails on a pink tractor in the Sun Flower Field.

Sean and Amy picked several varieties of apples from the trees.

This was actually a difficult corn maze. See that brochure in Sean’s hand? He thought it just a list of the farm’s activities. When they started wondering how they would make it out of the corn maze, Sean noticed there was a little map of the corn maze in the brochure. That made all the difference and they made it out of the maze easily.

Sean and Amy headed back to Texas yesterday. What a blessing that they both can work from home and got to spend three weeks “working from home” in Iowa with us. We really enjoyed having them here! Excited to see them again when they will be back for ten days for Thanksgiving and Ryan and Bree’s wedding. Have I told you our second son is engaged and getting married? Two weddings in five months! It’s been a fun year for the McCullough’s as we have added two wonderful daughters-in-law to our family!

Here’s Ryan and Bree on their engagement day! Amy, Abby and I got to go help Bree find her wedding dress along with her Mom and sister. Her dress is gorgeous, but I can’t show you that until after the wedding weekend. Oh happy day!! 🙂 We are thrilled our two oldest sons have each found their soul mate.

OK… before I get to the card – what fun you guys must have had – and how wonderful to have two weddings so close to each other! congratulations… Now.. your card… oh… I love your little trio together looking over the wall, but the little birdies singing their head off just totally finished off the card. So fun, Beth. I love it

I loved reading your post today Beth – this is the life my daughter dreams of, she wants a hobby farm one day! Your card is adorable, right down to the llama with her cute bow and I love the fold reveal too.

That is such a cute card! Very “Iowa”! 🙂 That isn’t one of the stamp sets i bought but you sure made a really cute scene with it. We have that in common as well as growing up on a “farm” and lots of years of 4-H. I feel blessed to have been raised here and still live here. (There is a place called “Bloomsberry” near where I live that sounds similar to where you are with corn maze etc.)
