International Dog Day

This card was super fun to make! I was inspired by our two pups and our campervan adventure in May, you can see videos here. The card base is 4-1/4″ x 8′ scored at 1-1/2″, 2-1/2″, 5-1/2″ and 6-3/4″.

This card sits up nicely on a desk and folds flat to be mailed in a regular A2 envelope.

It’s time for another Festive Friday Challenge!  It’s fun being a designer for Festive Friday and this week’s challenge #FF0115 is International Dog Day which is August 26th. What a great day to celebrate! I love my dogs so much!

The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project. Incorporate THREE or more of the items in your project and link up! #festivefridaychallenge  I hope you’ll make a card, scrapbook page or 3-D item and join us. If you want help entering, please email me at Beth@StampingMom.com and I’d be happy to help you!

From the Inspo List I used dog, pawprint, spots, and texture.

Since it’s International Dog day, I would like to tell you more about our pups.

Maya was our first family dog and is 15 years old. The kids named her after
the lead sled dog in the movie “8 Below” despite the fact that she is a
12 lb. Shih Tzu/Bichon mix “Teddy Bear” dog. (It’s a great movie, you should watch it.) Maya has always believed that she is a full member of the family, on an equal plane with all our
kids.  Our 4 kids would take her to the park and she would go down all the slides and race around the playground with them. Maya gets very excited to see people,
standing on her rear legs and waving her front paws until she get
petted.  She is a licker, and will stick her tongue in your mouth if you
get too close!

Molly is Maya’s 13 year old half sister.  While Maya is our family dog, Molly makes it clear that she is my dog. She follows me everywhere and looks into my eyes to find out what she can do next to please me.  She is very obedient, but does have a sneaky streak.  Anyone that leaves their lunch on the table to get something in the next room may not have a lunch when they get back.  She makes up for it, though, by snuggling, which is her favorite thing to do. I love both of my dogs so very much!

I trained Maya and Molly to be therapy dogs, visiting memory care and assisted living facilities to brighten the spirits of the residents. The residents love telling me stories of their
dogs as they pet my dogs.  They have also visited friends and relatives in the hospital, and
have been reading companions to young people learning to read.

Please leave me a comment and tell me about your pups.

Speaking of sled dogs, Yukon really is one.  He is an Alaskan Malamute,
who belongs to our son’s girlfriend, Breanne, and her roommate, Claire.  On several occasions, he has
joined our “pack” for a few days at a time. Yukon is a gentle giant, who is very patient with Maya and
Molly.  Steve loves to take him on long walks and show him off.  Yukon
loves it, too, although in reality he is actually walking Steve.

Beth, you really are the queen of fancy folds and I am always in awe of your patience. It is so reminiscent of your wonderful trip in May. I loved the photos of your pups, too!

An adorable card, Beth! This is such a great fold. I really need to try it some day. Give a virtual treat to the girls from Nueve, Sixx and GQ! They are such cuties!

This card is so adorable, Beth. I just love that little camper and the wreath on the door is wonderful. Camping Christmas! Love the little frolicking pups and the clever fold for standing and mailing. Thanks for having me, Beth. It was fun. Be well.

My sweet husband and I have had 4 Shih Tzus during the years. They are such precious dogs. They don’t shed, they eat very little and cleaning up poop is a lot easier than for a larger og!

Great card. The dog and paw prints make me happy. I was too late to get the tree lot/camper dies. I wanted to make a few cards using the dies. Oh well, there are worse things. Since it is International Dog Day, well my TED, basset hound, is of French origin. TED stands for Tactical Explosive Device – he can sling slobber far and wide! He is a big guy – well very short and long! Teddy is 75-85 lbs – he does not like to be weighed just like me! He is very short and stocky but has a long body. Gorgeous red and white coloring. He loves to visit older people but really likes visiting the Central College campus. He has been known to steal a bite of cookie on Cookie Day as well as other treats the students drop. The wrestling team decided he was their unofficial mascot. His favorite student graduated this spring so he is still looking for him now and then. His favorite dog friend is Gill, the Vizala, Hungarian breed, that lives next door for awhile. They are building a house they will move to next year. I think the basset hound will be a basket case then. Though their coloring is the same reddish auburn color, Gill is talk and sleek and can jump over Ted in a single bound. They make a cute pair!
