Candy Cane Lane Gift Bag Directions
Wow! I’ve never had so many comments on a blog post! When I said I would email the directions, it never entered my mind that 82 people would want them. Cheryl McAskill kindly suggested that I post the directions on my blog instead of emailing them out 82 times. I hope I don’t disappoint anyone.
Candy Cane Lane Gift Bag Directions
Supplies
- 12″ x 12″ cardstock or DSP (I used Stampin’ Up! Candy Cane Lane DSP)
- Paper cutter with scoring blade- I like to also use the Stampin’ Up! Simply Scored Tool
- (2) 7″ Real Red 3/4″ Stitched Edge Ribbon
- Hole Punch or Crop-A-Dile
-
Step 1
12″ x 12″ DSP or cardstock. When you are making your first bag, please don’t use your good DSP, make your sample out of “scrap” paper, as there is a learning curve. After you’ve made one bag, it will be easy to whip up a dozen bags quickly. Score across one side at 3″ and 9″. Score across the other side at 4-3/4″ and 7-1/4″. Mark the top of the paper at 1-3/4″, 6″ and 10-1/4″. Take a ruler and draw a diagonal line from A to B. Draw another diagonal line with the ruler from C to D. At your 6″ mark go down 1/2″ and mark this as E. Use your ruler again to draw from E to B and do the same from E to D. Go to the opposite of the paper and mark the paper at 1-3/4″, 6″ and 10-1/4″. Draw the diagonal lines as you did on the other side. See picture above.
Step 2
Use your bone folder and score all the lines. Fold the outer corners on top and bottom toward the center. The middle short sides of the bag make a “W”. Look carefully at the pictures above to see the correct direction to fold on the score lines. I used adhesive to keep the bag in place for the picture. On my bags in real life, I don’t use any adhesive at all. You can use a Gold Binder Clip found on page 177 of the annual catalog to hold your bag closed. You can also punch two holes and insert the 7″ Real Red 3/4″ Stitched Edge Ribbon like I did.
Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Please send me pictures of your bags and I’ll post them on my blog. I’m working on a cute Ginger Bread boy tag for my bag.
Some of you have been asking how much I have left to make my goal and promotion by Sept 30. The answer is $300. One way to help get me there is to do another round of shares from the Holiday catalog. Here’s a few of the comments I got after the first round.
“Beth, I just now had time to open my holiday share. You did a wonderful job of separating all the paper and the ribbon and packaging everything.. I know you spent a lot of time and effort. Everything is so perfect, I can’t wait to start crafting. Thanks again for the share. Donna”
“Beth, the paper share looks great. Thanks for all the careful labeling and packaging. I love all the papers. Also, the fast delivery. Thanks, Nancy”
It’s Time for my 2016 Holiday Catalog Product Shares- Round 2
Why participate in shares? Shares are a way to sample the new Designer Series Papers, Ribbons, and Embellishments at a fraction of what it would cost you to purchase all of them yourself. And the nice thing is I do all the ordering, cutting, counting and re-packaging for you!
How Shares Work
- Simply EMAIL ME (Beth@StampingMom.com) to reserve your spot in a share. When your share fills, I will bill you via PayPal, or you may send a check.
- I will place the orders for all filled shares. Once I receive the products, I will cut, count, measure and package up your goodies pronto!
- Your papers will be lovingly wrapped and identified to protect them; ribbons will be rolled onto a cardboard; and embellishments will be placed into small plastic bags. Once this task is completed, your shares will be sent out via the US Postal Service.
- Please note my paper shares are 6″ x 12″. A lot of people do 6″ x 6″, so you are getting twice as much paper with my shares.

Superman and I went to a funeral visitation tonight for a friend of Steve’s whose wife died unexpectedly. Life is short, hug your loved ones!
Saturday is our oldest son, Sean’s, 26th birthday! When he was back home over Labor Day he went shopping with me and I got him some shirts for his birthday. Today Superman had two dozen cookies delivered to his office at Amazon in Seattle, Washington. He told us they were delicious and he made some new friends at work today because of the cookies! Love you Sean and hope you have a fun birthday weekend!
Blessings,
Beth 🙂
