For today’s project I want to highlight the awesome Pierced Blooms and Stitched with Whimsey dies. The colors I chose are Magenta Madness, Mango Melody, Coastal Cabana, Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape. These cards are super simple, but would totally brighten someone’s day. I put 4-6 notecards and envelopes in a Mini Paper Pumpkin box. You could make several sets of these to give away as birthday, Christmas or hostess gifts.

Ski Adventure 2021 -Part 3

Days Two and Three of skiing were even more fun than day one, since we all felt more confident. My last ski trip was three years ago, so it took a bit on the first day to get back in the swing of skiing. I like to go fast, but temper that with my desire not to get hurt. Ryan was my ski partner, and we really enjoyed looking at the beautiful mountains as we made our way down the slopes. It is impossible not to be in awe of God’s amazing creation when it is laid out like a portrait right in front of you!

I skied with Steve at the end of day Two.  We enjoyed talking on the way up the lifts, in addition to skiing.  Steve took me on some of the steeper blue runs that he and Sean had been skiing, and I had no problem on them (as long as I turned a lot)!

I got braver on Day three, when I spent the end of the final day skiing with Steve and Sean.  I went faster on the steeper slopes trying to keep up with the boys, and I really enjoyed it.  Skiing for me feels like flying, and some times I put my arms out like wings just to feel the wind blowing across them. 🙂

I told people before we went on the trip that I thought that Ryan and I would outlast Steve and Sean on the slopes, since they both have bad knees, and they ski very intensely.  But it turned out that they shut the lifts down with me on the last day.  I would say that we were all “winners”! I was, however, the only one that didn’t fall down during our three full days of skiing, so that was a win for me! 🙂

Getting to see God’s creation was not the only blessing on this trip.  Spending time with my adult sons, and Steve, was the biggest blessing of all!

Sean is 30 and lives in Austin, Texas. Ryan is 25 and lives in West Des Moines, Iowa a few miles from our home. They are both software engineers.

We had another day off from skiing during the trip, and visited the 2002 Olympic Museum. This is the site of the ski jumping and downhill skiing, and serves as the training center for Olympic hopefuls. It was fun to watch the skiers training and “relive” the 2002 Winter Olympics in the museum. We have always been big fans of the Olympics and would love to attend in person some day. Our favorite Winter Sports to watch are ice skating and skiing. Our favorite Summer Sports to watch are women’s gymnastics and diving. To be totally honest, I actually love watching just about everything in the Olympics, and love the stories about the individual athletes and what they overcome to make it there.

Please check out everyone’s awesome projects on the blog hop!

Ski Adventure 2021

Monday was the first day on the slopes in Park City, Utah, which is only a stones throw away from the Stampin’ Up Headquarters. I’m much relieved that I can still ski and I still love it as much as ever! The preparation I did exercising and losing weight paid off. Ryan (2nd son- age 25) and I skied together most of the time. We are sensible Blue run skiers who enjoy the majesty of God’s creation. Steve (my sweet husband) and Sean (1st son- age 30) are still the best skiers, spending most of their time on Black Diamond runs. I’m not sure they take time to look around because they are trying not to crash most of the time. 🙂

Even though we had so much fun, there were some difficulties, too. In our condo, the boys room was about 80F degrees and our bedroom was about 50F degrees. I had to have one set of thermal underwear to use for skiing and one set to put on along with several layers of clothing when it was time to go to bed. I told you on Monday’s post about the 35 steps to get down into the condo. We could really feel them after a day of skiing. It made for an even better legs workout.

On Tuesday we took a rest day and went shopping at the Outlet Mall. Steve and Ryan both got new ski jackets and ski pants. Ryan didn’t think he needed a new jacket, but his old one had duct tape on the front of it where it was ripped (a dead give away that maybe it’s time for a new one). We also played several games and I beat Ryan at Chess for the first time ever! I did have a little help from Steve. 🙂 Please stop back on Friday to hear the next chapter of our ski adventure.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for our next blog hop on April 14th when our theme is “Great Family Occasions” when our Design Team creates a project for any special occasion. Don’t miss the fun! Until then, please stay safe and have fun in your craft space.

Winter Sampler Home Decor

The 3″ x 3″ squares on this Sampler were made by friends on my Stamping Mom’s Joy Team and I. You can find out more about my team at the bottom of this post.

I made the double square in the upper left hand corner. It includes a skier because I can’t wait to ski with my family in Park City, Utah in a few weeks. I taught my husband and all my kids how to ski, but now they are all better than me. I taught my oldest son, Sean, how to ski when he was three. He refused to go to the Daycare Ski school so I spent the entire week in Colorado skiing with him hanging on to my legs with his skis in between mine. Luckily I never fell on him. 🙂 Today, skiing is one of Sean’s favorite things to do. He’s actually in Seattle today on a work trip and skiing vacation.

We had so many people participate this time, we had enough for two complete samplers. We usually do nine 3″ x 3″ squares for each sampler, this time we added a double square at 3″ x 6-3/4″. There is “joy” on both samplers because we are called the “Joy Team.”

It’s time for another Festive Friday Challenge!  It’s fun being a designer for Festive Friday and this week’s challenge #FF0077 is International Polar Bear Day which is on Feb 27. Who knew there was a International Polar Bear day? We celebrated a little early in Iowa today with a blizzard!

The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project. Incorporate THREE or more of the items in your project and link up! #festivefridaychallenge  I hope you’ll make a card, scrapbook page or 3-D item and join us. If you want help entering, please email me at Beth@StampingMom.com and I’d be happy to help you!
