A New-to-Me Fun Fold Birthday Card

I love trying new fun folds, and this one is new to me! 💚 The original fun fold idea came from my demonstrator friend Kimberly Barbish, and I couldn’t wait to give it a try.

I changed mine up by using different dies and, of course, different colors and Designer Series Paper. I used the Nested Essentials Dies along with the beautiful Valley in Bloom Designer Series Paper.

One of the things I love about this fun fold is that you can recreate it with whatever supplies you already own!

At first glance, it looks like a pretty birthday card, but there’s a little surprise in the way it opens. 🦋

First, open the small Happy Birthday flap on the front…

…and then unfold the larger panel to reveal the inside!

Isn’t that fun? 😊

I love finding card designs that look special and a little unexpected but can still be recreated with supplies you already have. Change the Designer Series Paper, dies, colors and sentiment, and this same fun fold could work for birthdays, thank-you cards, thinking-of-you cards and so many other occasions.

• 2026–2028 In Color Butterflies
• Granny Apple Green Cardstock: 9-1/2″ x 4-1/4″, scored at 5-1/2″
• Pretty Peacock Cardstock: 4″ x 5-1/4″ and (2) 4″ x 3-3/4″
• Basic White Cardstock: 3-3/4″ x 3-1/2″
• Valley in Bloom Designer Series Paper: 3-3/4″ x 5″, 3-3/4″ x 1-1/2″, and 3-3/4″ x 3-1/2″
• Nested Essentials Dies: Largest die – Granny Apple Green Cardstock; 2nd largest die – Pretty Peacock Cardstock
• Sentiments: Cutest Crew – “happy birthday”; Phrases & Frames – “Have a Fabulous Day”
