We are on Day 7 of our two week tour of Ireland and Northern Ireland. We are celebrating my husband, Steve’s, 60th birthday! Today one of the highlights was going to the Walled Garden at the Glenarm Castle.
Dating from the 18th century, the Walled Garden is situated on the grounds of Glenarm Castle, the ancestral home of the McDonnell family, Earls of Antrim.
Over the past twenty years the Walled Garden has been carefully restored by Viscount and Viscountess Dunluce, with exciting new features added every year. It continues to evolve as a center of horticultural excellence with imaginative herbaceous borders, beautiful water features, fruit and vegetable gardens, and displays of flowers that burst with color from spring until autumn.
This picture if from the Woodland Walk at the back of the Walled Garden. I told Steve we were “forest bathing.” The simple method of being calm and quiet amongst the trees, observing nature around you whilst breathing deeply can help you de-stress and boost health and wellbeing in a natural way.
OK, so I took about 100 pictures of beautiful flowers around the borders of the Walled Garden. I thought you needed to see all of them, but Steve thought maybe 100 photos would be too much.
We ate in the Tea Room and you may be able to tell the ingredients for this salad were grown in the Walled Garden. The quiche was brie, spinach and caramelized onions. Yum!
