Casing Mary Fish- Varied Vases

Are you new to crafting?  Do you wonder how people get their ideas?  In papercrafting we often CASE (Copy and Share Everything)

I love the card above made by my upline, Mary Fish.  This is actually made with the stamp set, Varied Vases, that she helped design as a reward for selling 1 million dollars in stamp supplies.

I have not sold 1 million dollars in craft supplies, but maybe someday… A girl can dream 🙂

I CASE’d Mary’s card and made my own version in my favorite colors.  I love Bermuda Bay and other bright and happy colors.

I  made a cute envelope to match.

Sometimes I take parts of several different cards and put them together.  I also get ideas from nature, looking through catalogs for design ideas etc.  I’d love to hear how you get ideas for your crafting.  You can leave a comment at the top of this post.

Blessings,

Beth 🙂

Marcelyn Monday

Marcelyn Churchill is my friend, stamping team member, fellow BSFer (Bible Study Fellowship) and prolific crafter.  She doesn’t have a blog, so I share some of her creations on most Mondays.

I really like this beautiful Christmas card Marcelyn made with the Illuminated Christmas set.  If you have any questions about this card, please contact Marcelyn directly at marcelynchurchill@msn.com.

As you can imagine, Marcelyn made a lot more cards and gifts in the last week, but I was busy this weekend doing other things besides getting ready for Marcelyn Monday.  🙂

Steve and I went to the Iowa Hawkeye Football game and watched Iowa beat Maryland.  It was cold and windy.  The windiest game I’ve ever been to.  People bought popcorn and the popcorn would fly out of their bucket before they even got to their seats. 🙂

This morning I got up early to be Steve’s support system and cheer squad as he ran his first and his last Half Marathon. 13.1 miles.  My Dad said Steve is wise to realize once is enough.  Steve’s crossed it off his bucket list and will limit his races to no more than 7 miles.

Steve’s birthday is Thursday and he will be 55.  Time flies the older you get. 🙂  Happy Birthday Steve!

Have you heard about the Flash Sale coming on Tuesday? It’s Stampin’ Up’s Birthday too! Select stamp sets will be 15% off. Please stop back and get the details tomorrow.

I just got back from a couple days of helping with Steve’s parents, while Steve spent a week there helping.  Steve’s Dad had hip surgery and he is the caregiver for Steve’s Mom, who suffers with Dementia.  Steve’s parents did a great job raising their four boys, all of which would do anything to help their parents. 🙂

One of my jobs this week was to start going through the bins of pictures, newspaper articles, etc. in their basement.  It was like a walk down memory lane.  One entire bin was about the Floods of 93.  The flooding in Buffalo, IA where they live and Des Moines, IA where we live, was the worst we’ve ever experienced.  They had a house surrounded with sandbags and pumps in the basement trying to keep the water out.  Here’s a picture I found of Sean-age 3 and I riding in a row boat down the streets of Buffalo.

Reading about the floods was sad, but I was thrilled to find the picture below.

This was the Iowa Student Loan Annual Report from 1997, the company where Steve works.  They asked employee’s kids to draw a picture of what they wanted to be when they grew up.  I didn’t remember Sean was such a good artist or that he had drawn this picture. Even more fun is that today, Sean is indeed an engineer! It looks like he planned to be an engineer at NASA when he was seven, but today he is an engineer at Microsoft in Seattle, WA.  It’s even more interesting to go through dusty old bins when you find a nugget like this that made my heart so happy!  I sent the picture to Sean and he thought it was pretty cool as well.

I have to show you one last picture…we just finished studying the book of Joshua at Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) this week.  Well, if you’ve been around Stampin’ Up! for a long time you might recognize this.

I bought this decal from Stampin’ Up and it has been on the wall above my kitchen sink for around 10 years.  I love this verse, but I had never really studied Joshua.  When we got to it last week in our study, I was so happy to learn the context behind the verse and I love it even more today!  Do any of you still have Stampin’ Up decals on your walls?  Please leave me a comment at the top of this post.  I love hearing from you.

Blessings,

Beth 🙂
