I love the colors in this week’s Paper Players challenge.

My stamping mentor, Mary Fish, challenged us to do something on a card that was out of our comfort zone.  Well…water coloring is not in my comfort zone.  It’s so far out in fact, that for my first watercolor “masterpiece” I decided I should start with a blob of water coloring.  I fully intend to increase my watercolor skills from here!  There’s no place to go but up!

I enjoyed making the first one so much, I made a second.  I actually like the Pool Party background the best, however.

Hope you have fun weekend plans.  I’m going on a date with my youngest son, Keegan, to 12 Angry Men at the Des Moines Playhouse.  Keegan is an actor and singer and has been going to plays and musicals with me since he was about 5.  He had his first voice lesson for his solo contest last night.  The song he chose is in German.  Although the singing sounds good, I have no idea what he is saying. LOL.  Abby has her last Archery meet of the season this weekend too.  It’s actually going to be warm in Iowa this weekend.  Tomorrow we are supposed to get to 60 degrees which never happens in Iowa in February!

Blessings,

Beth 🙂

I was excited to see the Global Design Project has the theme of Balloons this week. Balloon Celebration is the first set I bought from Stampin’ Up’s 2016 Occasions Catalog and I haven’t been disappointed.  I was also inspired by Jeanna’s card.  See it here.  The tricky part of this quick and easy card, is to only ink up part of the balloon string when stamping the sides.  Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.  I’d love it if you would subscribe to my blog.

Abby’s 17th Birthday was today and we celebrated with Pulled Pork (Yum! The house smelled so good, the dogs could hardly stand it) and Scratch Cupcakes.  Here’s the recipe for my Yummy Pulled Pork  if you’re interested.

Blessings,

Beth 🙂

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Hope you had a nice Valentine’s Day.  I forgot I had already made Steve’s Valentine, so this morning I jumped up and made him this card.

Do you recognize the sketch? It’s the same one I used for Abby’s birthday card yesterday.  Here’s the link to the Global Design Project.

This afternoon I remembered I had made Steve’s Valentine a couple weeks ago.

It’s funny how different they are, but I’m sure Steve probably is OK with the fact he makes my heart happy and that I love him!  I also gave him two bags of dark chocolate.  Since he’s been on his fitness and healthy eating kick he doesn’t eat many sweets, but he still enjoys a bite of fine dark chocolate.

So would you like to see what Superman (Steve) got me for Valentine’s Day?  He got me a dozen red roses last Tuesday from Costco, before the price of roses when up.  It’s true, Steve and I are both ahem… cheap or it sounds better that we’re thrifty.  I actually get flowers from Superman about every other week or two year round.  The good news is during the Spring, Summer and Fall he actually picks the flowers from our yard and puts them in a vase for me.  During the winter he resorts to buying them, but they usually come from Walmart or Costco.  So he came home with red roses for me and yellow roses for Abby.

OK so the yellow roses don’t look so good, but we’ve had them almost a week and I did accidently let them run out of water once during the week.  The red roses still look great.

He also went in my stamping office last night and made Abby and I with homemade Valentines.  He does this every year.  Steve always uses punches, but I was surprised that he had somehow learned to use framelits.  I asked him about it and he said he actually cut the big hearts out with scissors.  I think he did way better than I could’ve done.  Good thing I have framelits.

Abby and Keegan received their standard two Reese’s Peanut Butter Hearts in a Valentine box made with the Gift Box Punch Board from me.  They are always happy with this gift.

Ryan is away at college and Sean works in Seattle, so they got boxes in the mail.

Typically I can send them almost an entire 9 x 13 pan of bars divided in two layers in a small priority box.  This time they got fewer Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Bars so I had room for two Reese’s Peanut Butter Hearts.  I sent these bars to Sean for his birthday in September and he shared them with his coworkers at Amazon.  The coworkers LOVED the bars and had never had them before.  So I’ve sent them several more times.  I guess they are a Midwest thing.  If you would like the recipe for Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Bars (also called Scotcheroos), please let me know.
