My sweet daughter Abby is just a few short months from her high school graduation. It looks like she will be going to the University of Iowa in the Fall. Since Superman and I graduated from there, we are pretty excited about her choice. 🙂 When I saw the Global Design Challenge for this week was Delightful Dijon, Silver and a color of my choice, the first thing I thought of was to add Basic Black for my Free Choice and we’d have Iowa Hawkeye Colors!
I love that this calendar is a regular A2 card with the support added. The base is 4-1/4″ x 11 and scored at 5-1/2″. The support is 4-1/4″ x 5″ and scored at 1″, 2-1/2″, and 4″. You can see in the picture below how the support works. The idea and directions for this calendar came from Jeanie Stark at Just Stampin’. Thanks Jeanie!
I’m also a designer at Use Your Stuff Challenge Blog this week. Our challenge was to use at least three different coordinating designer series papers. I actually was able to get four of the Stampin’ Up! Urban Underground Specialty Designer Series Paper on this calendar. I also used the star from the Urban Underground Embellishments.

Keegan sang with his Jazz group on Saturday and they did a great job! Superman and I love going to his jazz performances. Abby and some of her friends helped 15 seniors with their technology on Saturday morning. Right now we are having an ice storm. It just started a couple hours ago and I would’ve fallen on the deck when I took the pups out, if I hadn’t been so careful. I hope the story will be the same when the ice is over and gone. I think the hospitals will be busy the next couple days.
So I’ve told you before that Superman and I have been married for 30 years and I think he’s pretty awesome! Not sure if I’ve told you he makes me guacamole a couple times almost every week. Yep, he works hard to be worthy of his Superman name! Tonight it was so good I had to take a picture of it. Keegan has decided he wants to be a good cook with a few selective menu items. He made each of us a breakfast burrito. They were pretty awesome too. It used to be Keegan refused to eat eggs. Now that he’s making his own, he loves them!
We had two more water incidents this week, neither of which was my fault. I say that because the first major incident in December when the whole basement flooded was pretty much my fault. Here’s a picture of water issue #4. When the plumber came and fixed the sump pump again (water issue #3) they turned on the water to the outside irrigation system and caused water issue #4. This picture was taken way before the ice storm arrived. We went 25 years without a water issue so I’m hoping with four water issues in the last couple weeks we are done. At least this last one didn’t get the basement wet.
Blessings,
Beth 🙂
Hi Chris, Glad I wasn’t the only one who saw Hawkeye colors in the Urban Underground DSP! We are hoping the wrestling team improves as the season progresses! I’m so surprised and happy that you got emails about it. Where in Iowa do you live? I’m in West Des Moines.
Blessings,
Beth 🙂
I had to laugh as when I saw this paper pack, I thought yeah, Hawkeye colors! The calendar is amazing and I want to make one too. I thought this sheet looked like pennants. I had several E-mails today asking if I had seen Mary’s post with the Hawkeye calendar. Speaking of the Hawks, what is up with the wrestling team?
Well, gotta prepare for the Packers game after I check out more of your blog. Good luck on the water situation.
Thanks Haven! We actually haven’t had much snow this winter, but the rain is causing us grief. You should visit Iowa so we can make you some guacamole! I’m so glad you like the calendar.
Loving the color combos on the calendar project. I want some of your guacamole too. Yumm. Hope you are surviving the rest of the cold weather without further incident
Thanks Cheryl! We can make it 60 more days! I love Spring!
Thanks Pat. Hopefully in our case the fourth time is a charm! Can’t wait to stamp with you!
Yikes! That looks awful…I am praying all those issues are resolved for you and your family. Spring is only about 60 days away!
If only!!!!
Beth I am so sorry about your water issues. Usually it is third time is a charm but you got an extra one! No more for you.
