I planted this perennial clematis last year in the ground near my back deck. Unlike many climbing plants, clematis don’t grow any aerial roots to attach onto surfaces, nor do they grow any tendrils, so you have to help them out by providing an appropriate trellis or structure to climb on. I told Steve we need to put fishing line across between our deck posts to give it something to climb on. I love the bright pink color. I think next Spring I’ll plant a different color clematis at the other end of the deck and they can meet in the middle. It would be neat to have a clematis grow over an archway. What is your favorite flower to grow? The steps in this picture lead down to my herb garden. I’ll show you that on another day.
