Stampin’ Up

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Hope you had a nice Valentine’s Day.  I forgot I had already made Steve’s Valentine, so this morning I jumped up and made him this card.

Do you recognize the sketch? It’s the same one I used for Abby’s birthday card yesterday.  Here’s the link to the Global Design Project.

This afternoon I remembered I had made Steve’s Valentine a couple weeks ago.

It’s funny how different they are, but I’m sure Steve probably is OK with the fact he makes my heart happy and that I love him!  I also gave him two bags of dark chocolate.  Since he’s been on his fitness and healthy eating kick he doesn’t eat many sweets, but he still enjoys a bite of fine dark chocolate.

So would you like to see what Superman (Steve) got me for Valentine’s Day?  He got me a dozen red roses last Tuesday from Costco, before the price of roses when up.  It’s true, Steve and I are both ahem… cheap or it sounds better that we’re thrifty.  I actually get flowers from Superman about every other week or two year round.  The good news is during the Spring, Summer and Fall he actually picks the flowers from our yard and puts them in a vase for me.  During the winter he resorts to buying them, but they usually come from Walmart or Costco.  So he came home with red roses for me and yellow roses for Abby.

OK so the yellow roses don’t look so good, but we’ve had them almost a week and I did accidently let them run out of water once during the week.  The red roses still look great.

He also went in my stamping office last night and made Abby and I with homemade Valentines.  He does this every year.  Steve always uses punches, but I was surprised that he had somehow learned to use framelits.  I asked him about it and he said he actually cut the big hearts out with scissors.  I think he did way better than I could’ve done.  Good thing I have framelits.

Abby and Keegan received their standard two Reese’s Peanut Butter Hearts in a Valentine box made with the Gift Box Punch Board from me.  They are always happy with this gift.

Ryan is away at college and Sean works in Seattle, so they got boxes in the mail.

Typically I can send them almost an entire 9 x 13 pan of bars divided in two layers in a small priority box.  This time they got fewer Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Bars so I had room for two Reese’s Peanut Butter Hearts.  I sent these bars to Sean for his birthday in September and he shared them with his coworkers at Amazon.  The coworkers LOVED the bars and had never had them before.  So I’ve sent them several more times.  I guess they are a Midwest thing.  If you would like the recipe for Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Bars (also called Scotcheroos), please let me know.

Abby will be 17 on Tuesday, but we had her birthday party Friday night!  She and her friends had a great time.abbycookie

Are you wondering why there are monsters on her cookie cake?  Me too!  Abby picked out exactly what she wanted.  🙂

To design Abby’s card, I used the Global Design Project Challenge GDP022.

I got out my Balloon Framelits and popped up the Balloon with dimensionals.  The silver cord and silver stars jazz up the card and make it special for my awesome Abby!

I’ve used the It’s My Party DSP on every birthday card I’ve made recently.  I just love it! I always like to add a coordinating envelope too.

Abby was so excited to get an Amazon gift card from her oldest brother today.  For years he got her nothing, but being gainfully employed as greatly increased his generosity!

I drove Abby to Afton for an archery tournament this afternoon.  We had a great time until we were driving home in the dark and it was snowing.  She stayed very calm and didn’t admit how scared she was until we were safely off the interstate.  Our biggest issue was my car slides sideways while driving on snow.  Steve has now scheduled an appointment for me to get snow tires later this week.

Plank Heart

StampinUp love card made with the Hearts Framelits, designed by demo Beth McCullough. Please see more card and gift ideas at www.StampingMom.com #StampingMomplankheart2

If you’re a card maker where do you get your inspiration?  I took this picture at a church I recently visited.  I really think the plank heart is beautiful in front of the stone wall.  I wish I would’ve cut my planks a little narrower to be more similar to the heart at the church.

I also get inspiration from Sketch challenges and used SSC119 for the colors on this card.  My heart is made with Cherry Cobbler, the brick wall is Sahara Sand sponged with Smokey Slate and layered onto Early Espresso cardstock.

I made this card for a family whose hearts are broken because of the death of their 18 year old son.  I feel so much empathy for them and can’t imagine many things worse than losing your child.  The community can see God’s light shining through this family during this difficult time.  The family attends the church where I took the picture and the heart was there at the time of their son’s death.

Hug your kids today.  Sean, Ryan, Abby and Keegan, Dad and I love you so much!  God loves you too!

Blessings,

Beth 🙂
