This week’s Use Your Stuff Challenge Blog #UYS229 challenge is to make a project with fruit or vegetables.  Please join the challenge here.  Since strawberries are a favorite at our house and we have our own small strawberry bed, I decided to use the strawberry paper for my project.

Here’s the back side of the packet.  Isn’t this DSP (Designer Series Paper) gorgeous?!

I used one 8×8 sheet of DSP, a bit of ribbon and some dark chocolate almonds from Trader Joe’s.  Easiest project ever!

I mentioned our strawberry bed.  Well, here it is.  Yep, Superman built it for me a few years ago.  You might be wondering about the pvc pipe?  I cover the strawberry bed with netting to keep my strawberries safe from the birds and also safe from my sweet pups, Maya and Molly.  I caught Maya “red handed” in my strawberry bed munching away and figured out I needed to secure my netting better.  You might wonder why my pups love strawberries so much? I blame my oldest son, Sean.  When Sean is home, strawberries are his favorite thing to eat.  He also loves our pups so much, he shares his favorite food with them, which in turn made my two pups love strawberries as much as he does. Hence, why I have two strawberry thieves living with me. 🙂

For those of you who don’t grow strawberries, you might be fascinated to learn that each strawberry begins as a beautiful flower.  The yellow center becomes the strawberry.

Here’s some berries after the white petals fell off and the yellow center part formed the berry.  As you might be able to tell, I love gardening almost as much as stamping!  Most days I spend around one hour each morning weeding, watering, picking up sticks and enjoying my flowers and vegetable gardens.  Oh, I also jump on our trampoline, but I’ll save that story for another day.

Today was Keegan’s first day at musical theatre camp.  His day started off bad by accidently dropping his iphone in water and ruining it. After he got to camp things got better.  He nailed his first solo, Empty Chairs at Empty Tables from Les Miserables, and was selected for the top group.  He made three new friends from Nevada, IA and reconnected with an old friend he met at The Playhouse a couple years ago.  He’s excited to go back again tomorrow!  He’ll spend all week with three professional actors from Broadway working on singing, dancing and acting.

Since Keegan was at camp, and Abby’s still  a camp counselor at Okoboji, I had to do therapy dogs alone today.  I almost never go alone so I thought about cancelling, but I’m so glad I didn’t.  Maya brought so much joy to so many people today.  One of my favorite gentlemen in Assisted Living was having a really tough day today.  Maya and I succeeded in cheering him up.  It made my heart happy!  I always say that the best way to cheer yourself up, is to cheer up someone else.  It works for me anyway.

Blessings,

Beth 🙂

I’m playing along with the Global Design Project this week and their Party theme.  Please consider joining one of their challenges here.

I love the Note Cards to make a quick and easy card.  The whimsical Sunshine Wishes Thinlits are quickly becoming a favorite of mine. The Fine-Tip Glue Pen is an absolute necessity when making a card with fine lines. Please see all the supplies I used at the bottom of this post and click on any of the images to order from my online store.  Please let me know if you have any comments or questions.  I’d love to hear from you!  Please subscribe to my blog or follow me on Pinterest here.

Quick and easy Congrats cards

StampinUp quick and easy Congrats card made with the retired Bravo stamp set, designed by demo Beth McCullough. Please see more card and gift ideas at www.StampingMom.com #StampingMom

My younger sister and her family have been visiting us in Iowa this week.  They are returning home to Georgia tomorrow morning. Jenn mentioned she would love some Congrats cards to send out to her team mates.  So what do you do when you have one hour to whip up ten cards and envelopes?  First, I grabbed a package of Stampin’ Up! Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes.  There are 20 cards and envelopes for only $6.  The cards are 5″ x 3 1/2″ and are big enough to be mailed.  I got started by stamping random dots using Real Red, Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry.  When I say random, I must tell you that this is tough for me.  I’m actually a retired Accountant.  Most accountants like things organized and evenly spaced.  Even after stamping for 13 years, I have to  remind myself, “let the dots fall off the page and some can be closer or farther apart, it’s OK if two dots of the same color are close to each other.”  I bet there’s some accountants and others who understand exactly what I’m talking about. 🙂 Anyway, the Razzleberry dots are made with a pencil eraser instead of a stamp.  The sentiments are from the retired stamp set, Bravo.

I learned something new today! This picture is the first collage I’ve ever made.  I’ve been asked to be a guest designer on Craft Project Central and there’s several things I need to learn.  The first thing on my list was to learn to make a collage for Pinterest, so hopefully I’ll be much better at it by September.

We had a wonderful time at the annual Olson family reunion today in Odebolt, Iowa.  My aunt and uncle hosted everyone at their farm today.  My Aunt Irene made a wonderful picnic lunch with delicious homemade ice cream and melt in your mouth Sugar cookies (made with my grandmother’s recipe) for dessert.  The little cousins got several rides around the farm in the John Deere Gator.  I have several pictures I’ll show you tomorrow.

Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Blessings,

Beth 🙂
