Valentine’s Day

Easy Triangular Treat Box

I’m on the Design Team for Use Your Stuff Challenge Blog and I’m hosting this weeks’s challenge- Use Your Stuff #294 Something New.  Please visit Use Your Stuff and enter something you’ve made with new product.  I chose to make this Easy Triangular Treat Box with Stampin’ Up!’s gorgeous new paper, Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP).

Paper: Painted with Love Specialty DSP, Gold Foil, Melon Mambo
Accessories: Love Mini Tinsel Trim Combo Pack, Lots to Love Box Framelits Dies (heart), 1 -1/4″ punch, 1′ punch

Directions to make the Easy Triangular Treat Box-

Need 2- 2″ x 8″ strips of cardstock or DSP

As shown on “A” use a ruler and draw a line from the 1″ mark to the score line at 3″ at the top of the cardstock.  Do this again from the 1″ mark to the 3″ score line at the bottom of the cardstock.  Do the same thing from the other end to the 5″ score line.  Use your bone folder and score on all four of these lines.

As shown on “B” use a ruler and draw a line from the 1/2″ mark to the score line at 3″ at the top of the cardstock.  Do this again from the 1/2″ mark to the 3″ score line at the bottom of the cardstock.  Do the same thing from the other end to the 5″ score line.  Cut the cardstock along the four lines you drew.  My picture shows the cardstock with these pieces already removed.

Put Tear and Tape on the center square of the A piece. Line up the center square of the B piece and adhere together.  Put Tear and Tape on one side of the B piece.

Line up the sides of the A pieces behind the B piece and adhere.  The back of the box is open to put candy in.  Bring it up and put a hole through all the layers and add ribbon to hold the box together.

Saturday night we went to church and then had awesome fajitas made by Steve.  We played a game of Cribbage and then just like that…another kid went back to college.  We’ll miss you Ryan.  Well actually, I’ll see you tomorrow when we meet you in Ankeny to bring you the things you forgot.  What a smart kid to go to college 45 min from our house.  OK, so I must admit Ryan didn’t technically forget anything.  He has a room mate gift exchange and I had written on the package it was from Ryan.  He told me it was Secret Santa and I wasn’t supposed to put his name on it.  I took it in my Stamping Studio to make a cute tag to put over the name, got distracted and didn’t make the tag and didn’t bring back the gift.  Oops!  I guess Ryan would’ve been better off not mentioning the name on the package.

Have a great week!

A friend of mine just moved her mother-in-law to Hospice and she asked that Valentine or other cards be sent to her to make her last Valentine’s Day her best ever!  Instead of my usual hot pink or red and black Valentines, I was hoping to make something more elegant that might be appreciated by an 80 something year old.

I used the Global Design Project Case the Designer for my inspiration on this card. #GDP072

The heart is cut from the Falling in Love DSP.  This paper is gorgeous! The other colors are Sahara Sand, Blusing Bride and Very Vanilla. I used clear embossing powder on the sentiment so it pops a little in real life.

I was so happy many of you wanted directions to make the Mini Ghirardelli Box.

Mini Ghirardelli Box Instructions

 Step 1

To make the Mini Ghirardelli Box, you need one 5-1/2” x 7-½” cardstock or DSP. Score on the longer side at 1”, 2-½”, 4-¼” and 5-¾”.  Score the DSP on the shorter side at 1-½” and 4”.

Step 2

The 1” end middle piece at the top is the flap of the box. Use Paper Snips and cut down two score lines (1-½’ and 4” score lines) and cut away two squares on each side. Use the Project Life Corner Punch on both sides of the flap. Cut on the 4-¼” and 5-¾” score lines toward the center of the paper up to the next score line. Add Tear & Tape Adhesive on both flaps on both sides. Note: I used red sticky strip so it would show up better in the photo.

Step 3

Take the middle flap and adhere it to the back of the flap that doesn’t have adhesive. Take the front flap and adhere it to the outside of the box. Do the same thing on the other side.

Step 4

Wrap five Mini Ghirardelli candies with a 1” x 3” strip of DSP.  Punch out hearts and add to candy with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Add five decorated candies to the Mini Ghirardelli Box.

The “Love” is from the January 2017 Paper Pumpkin stamp set.  I fussy cut out the heart and adhered it to the box with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

These boxes are quick and easy to make! I’d love to receive pictures of the boxes you make to share on my blog.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

The black with white polka dots and color scheme for this box was decided by my design assistant, aka, sweet daughter Abby.  I neglected to give her credit when I first posted this box a couple days ago and she did take note of that.  Next fall when Abby’s away at college and my projects aren’t cute anymore, you’ll realize how much she actually helps me.  Thanks so much Abby! 🙂
