Touches of Texture

Steve and I led a mission trip to our Bible camp in Okoboji this week during our Spring Break. It was a combination of Family Camp style Bible study, worship, and doing work projects to help the camp get ready for the summer camp season. My three youngest kids were “camp counselors” for the other kids on the trip ages 6-14.  It warmed my heart to watch my kids showing Christ’s love in their counselor role.

There was a large group of quilting gals at our camp while we were there.  After we got around 10 inches of snow on Sunday, one of the quilting ladies asked Keegan if she could pay him to clean the snow off her car.  He told her he wouldn’t take money, but he would clear the car off. He gathered up some other kids and made it “fun” to clear off all the couple dozen cars in the parking lot.  Needless to say, the quilting gals were very happy with the Mission Okoboji kids!

When I got home I had the most beautiful card in my mailbox from my friend, Ruth Sollberger, who lives in Australia.  Ruth is a Stampin’ Up demo and Bible Study Fellowship leader there, so you should look her up if you live in Australia.

I love this card for so many reasons!  First of all it’s made by my sweet friend and I was thrilled to find it in my mailbox!  The main color is Bermuda Bay which is my all time favorite color.  It is so bright and happy with a touch of Daffodil Delight and the beautiful Sale-A-Bration free silver ribbon.  Do you have this yet?  I think you should get some.  The DSP Ruth used is the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP Stack.  It is gorgeous paper!  Hope you don’t mind Ruth, but I’m going to CASE (Copy and Share Everything) your card.  Thank you so much Ruth!  I think I’ll make a set of three and put it in a box made with the Envelope Punch Board, like the box I made last week.

Let me know if you would like me to write up the directions to make this box.  It’s the perfect size for about three or four cards with envelopes.  This would make a great hostess gift.  I also have a Notecard size Envelope Punch Board Box.

As I was thinking about how blessed I am to have friends around the world, especially Ruth, it reminded me that I’m also blessed with awesome friends that are part of my Stamping Mom’s team.  At our last team meeting, Lynn Tague showed up with this gift for me.

Blessings,

Beth 🙂

A few more bunnies…

I’m a designer for Use Your Stuff Challenge Blog, and our challenge for this week is dry embossing.  Please head over and join the fun.

  • For my dry embossing, I used a retired Stampin’ Up! embossing folder called Pretty Paisleys.  This is one that I probably will never get rid of because I love the look of it on clean and simple cards.

  • I love that the inside of the card says, “May All Your Chocolate Be Solid.”  This was my warm up card for the Kate Spade style Bunny card I made last week.

  • I’ve been asked what’s up with all these bunny cards and boxes? I just think they are cute and fun.  Let me assure you that I am a Christian and I love the Lord with all my heart!  If you want to know what I believe, please read the excerpt below that explains what we believe as Christians:

“Most Christians know that Easter is the most important day of the entire church year. Easter, of course, is the day Jesus rose from the dead. The Bible states that (Jesus) was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification” (Romans 4:25).
On Good Friday Jesus died on the cross. His suffering and death and the shedding of His innocent blood was the PAYMENT for all our sins. Because Jesus made the payment on our behalf, for our sins, there is nothing more that we need to pay. There is nothing that we can pay. Jesus did it all for us.
On the third day Jesus rose from the dead. His resurrection was God’s way of demonstrating that He had accepted the payment that Jesus made for us. In other words, the resurrection of Jesus from the dead is our PROOF OF PURCHASE. Jesus redeemed (bought us back) from our sin, from death and from the power of the devil. Because of that payment that Jesus made for us, God has now “justified” us or declared us to be “not guilty”. We are forgiven. And that means we have the certainty of eternal life through Jesus. “Whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
No wonder Easter means so much to the Christian. It is our day of victory. “Because I (Jesus) lives, you (we) also will live” (John 14:19).
On Easter we decorate our church with flowers, most of which are white (the Easter lily). White is the color of joy and  holiness. Because Jesus died and rose again, all our sins are forgiven and, through faith in Him, we are cleansed and purified, of all sin.
Easter is also the symbol of new life from the dead. As believers in Jesus, we have a new life. It is the life we live by faith in Him who loved us and gave Himself for us. Each day of our lives, we want to live for Him to show our love and gratitude for all that He has done for us.
May our Easter celebration bring renewed joy, celebration and life through our risen and glorified Savior – JESUS CHRIST!”

He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!

Blessings,

Beth 🙂

  • I love the Avant-Garden 2017 Sale-A-Bration stamp set.  I got the idea for these cards from a beautiful card made by Marsha Reed.

  • At first I started making these cards in all my favorite “flower colors”.  This one is Calypso Coral.

  • Then I decided I needed a cute box to put the cards in for gift giving, and turned my attention to making the cards in colors that would coordinate with the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper (DSP).  This card is Mint Macaron.

  • I also used the Succulent Garden DSP to make coordinating envelopes for each card.  Sweet Sugarplum was used to make this card.

  • The box is made with a 9″ x 9″ DSP and created with the Envelope Punch Board.  The box fits standard A2 cards and is about 3/4″ thick.

Which SAB set is your favorite?  You have until March 31 to get a free SAB gift with every $50 order.
