Hello Pumpkin Season!! One of my favorite memories is taking my kids to the pumpkin patch and apple orchard each fall. What a great way to spend a Fall day outside with bright blue skies and a chill in the air. They loved picking out their own pumpkin and also eating a sweet apple treat. Steve and I are excited to start a new tradition with our 6 month old grandson, James, and take him to a pumpkin patch this Fall! 🙂

This week’s Festive Friday Design Team’s challenge #FF0168 is World Card Making Day! You may be surprised to learn that card making has been around for centuries. In fact, its roots can be traced back as far ago as ancient China, where cards were used to send greetings on New Year’s Day, and in Egypt, where they sent greetings with papyrus scrolls. Thanks to advances in printing and technology and lower postal rates, sending greeting cards for any occasion transformed from moderately costly handcrafted gifts to a relatively inexpensive way to personalize greetings and communication.

I started making cards in 2003 and became a demo within a week. My heart still sings with joy with each card I make. I love the ability to personalize cards, like I did for this card for my son. If you need more joy in your life, consider learning to make cards with me.

I love the fall season and look forward every year to hosting my big family Thanksgiving celebration. It’s bigger every other year when all the married cousins and my married kids (Sean & Amy) can be here too. As I prepare for Thanksgiving, I start by figuring out what my Thanksgiving invitation will be. I do send invitations to everyone in the mail every year. I think they look forward to it, at least I hope so. Here’s one of my possibilities for this year. What do you think?

Here’s the side view. The card does stand up on a desk and folds flat to mail in a regular A2 invitation size envelope.
