Directions for Kate Spade inspired gift card set

The cards in this gift box are not the standard A2 size.  They are what Stampin’ Up! calls Note Card size.  The cards are 5″ x 3 1/2″ and the envelopes are 5 1/8″ x 3 5/8″.  You need to purchase these from Stampin’ Up! or cut your cards yourself and use the Envelope Punch Board to make the envelope.  You can purchase the Note Cards by clicking here or Envelope Punch Board here.  This size does work for mailing.

You can get both piece A and B cut from one 12 x 12 sheet of cardstock.

Cut the cardstock for piece A at 7 1/4 x 12. Score at 1/2′”and 1″ on all four sides. You fold at the 1/2″ score line with the end tab piece in between the two side layers and then fold at the 1″ score line.  The sides of the box are a double layer of card stock.  Please let me know if you have any questions about how to fold this box together. You need a strong adhesive.  I’m using Stampin’ Up Tear & Tape.  You can buy the Tear & Tape here.

You are basically making “mountains” on the front side of this piece to have a separation between the cards, envelopes and sentiment tags.

The yellow piece is in the picture just so you can see the Window Sheet on top of it. The box is 10 inches long so you do the scoring on the 12 inch side.  If you don’t have 12 x 12 Window Sheets which are available in my Stampin’ Up store, click here, you can also use adhesive to combine two Transparency sheets and cut them down to a 10 x 11 1/2 size.

I wrapped the box with a piece of Night of Navy ribbon.  I thought about adding a tag, but instead added a “thank you” tag on the top card.  This is a hostess gift for my sweet friend,Janene , who hosted our family for Easter.I can’t wait to make some more gift card sets!

I’d love it if you would leave me a comment or question at the top of this post and subscribe to my blog.

crab apple

The Des Moines area has beautiful crab apple trees in colors of pink, white and red  that bloom every April.  Water Works park has hundreds or thousands of these trees.  Super Man and I are going on a bike ride this afternoon to see the trees and I’ll probably take some pictures.  Abby heard what we were doing and packed us a picnic lunch.  What a sweetie!  Hopefully tomorrow’s blog post won’t have a story about a biking mishap!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Blessings,

Beth 🙂

My sweet friend, Janene, gave me the kitchen towel that inspired this Kate Spade knock off card set.  Janene also hosted our family for Easter.  I told her I would make her a card set as a hostess gift.  I always have trouble deciding what kind of cards to make for other people and hadn’t made them yet, even though Easter was a month ago.  Since Janene liked the towel, I’m confident she will like this card set.

The card set includes six note cards and envelopes and six optional tags.  I’m not sure if she’ll want to use the note cards plain or with a sentiment, so I put dimensionals on the back of the tags and she can have fun putting them on if she wants them.

I’m proud to tell you that I did not case this box from anyone.  It’s a Stamping Mom original!  Here’s the link to the directions to make the gift card box.

Several of you have asked about the flower stamp.  It is from the  Stampin’ Up! Paper Pumpkin April 2016 free set called All About Everything.

Today was therapy dog day and Super Man was out of town.  That means I got to wash the pups.  We wash them in our kitchen sink.  Here they are after their bath.

They did a great job at their therapy dog visit.  One gal who works there spent some time petting them and told us it really brought joy to her 13 hour work day.  Not sure why it was 13 hours?  I assume she has two different jobs back to back? Anyway Maya and Molly are happy to bring joy to anyone who needs it.

Super Man got home from his trip tonight and Ryan came home from college.  It’s going to be a great weekend.  Hope you have fun weekend plans.

Blessings,

Beth 🙂

I had one more card to make from my Tin of Cards kit when I noticed that this week’s Use Your Stuff Challenge  is to use Kraft cardstock.  Fab Friday’s Color Challenge this week is Calypso Coral, Pool Party, and So Saffron.  I combined the two challenges and created this card.  It’s hard to tell in the picture, but the butterflies are heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  Each butterfly also has 3 pearls down the center.

I wanted a matching polka dot envelope so I used the Designer Series Paper Stacks-Subtles.

Here’s some more cards from the Tin of Cards kit.  Yes, Janeen, these are yours!  Janeen and her very talented sixth grade son were at my Tin of Cards class, but didn’t have time to finish before they needed to leave for soccer practice. I finished these three for them. Note to everyone who comes to my classes- if you want me to make some of your cards for you, just say you need to go to soccer practice and I’ll get the rest done for you. 🙂  Hope you like them Janeen!  I’ll drop them off today!

Super Man took Keegan to our Okoboji Bible camp this weekend to help the camp get ready for the summer.  Unfortunately Super Man got super sick.  We think he got food poisoning. (Not from the camp, but from a restaurant they went to Saturday night.) Super Man drives a manual transmission car and decided to teach Keegan a little bit on how to drive it on Saturday morning.  Good thing, because after his short lesson yesterday, Keegan had to drive Super Man all the way home today.  He only stalled three times on a four hour drive.  Not bad for day two of driving with a stick shift!  Keegan is 15 and has a driving permit.

Abby and I stayed home because she had vocal concerts on Friday and Sunday and she babysat her four favorite boys on Saturday night.  The three year old told her she was his best friend!  That made her day!  Her vocal concerts were really good too!  Hope you had a good weekend!

Blessings,

Beth 🙂
