3D Gifts

Quick and Easy Gift

traderjoestraderjoestraderjoesAre you ever in the situation where it’s time to go to an event and at the last minute you think, “I should bring a hostess gift!”  Well, I find myself in that situation all the time.  My go to stamp set for last minute emergencies is Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Thank You.  In this case, I was visiting a friend with a broken ankle and it happened to be her birthday.  I went to Trader Joe’s and got her French Vanilla Ice Cream (best ice cream ever!), Midnight Moo Chocolate Syrup and 50% Less Salt Peanuts.  There are two important things I need to mention here.  First of all, the Trader Joe’s clerk asked me what I was doing that day and I told her about my friend and that I was taking the ice cream etc. to for her broken ankle.  Well, the clerk got a reusable Trader Joe’s bag for me to use as a “gift bag” and ran and picked out some flowers for me to take to her also. ( The bag and flowers were free!) Trader Joe’s is an awesome store!  Second important thing is a note to my friends and family: If I break an ankle or other body part, please bring me the ice cream, chocolate syrup and peanuts pictured above. 🙂

Anyway now that the broken ankle was covered, I thought I really should bring her a little something for her birthday.  Since other people had also probably been bringing meals and maybe even ice cream, I thought she might need some thank you notes to send.  I spent the next few minutes whipping up 5 cards and envelopes.

thankyou

Not to be outdone by the cute Trader Joe’s bag, I came up with a cute Berry Basket to present my cards.

It was time to go visit my friend and she loved both gifts.  When you need a last minute gift, make sure you have Watercolor Thank You on hand.  It’s saved me more than once, HERE’S another easy gift I made with Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Thank You.

Please subscribe to my blog and I’ll tell you more about my adventures and gift giving.

Please leave a comment and tell me what your favorite things are at Trader Joe’s!

Almost everyone gives gift cards for Christmas.  Today I wanted to share my favorite gift card envelope. I used the Envelope Punch Board by Stampin’ Up!  This envelope is 2″ x 3 1/2″.  It is the smallest size you can make with the Envelope Punch Board.

Santa Gift Card Holder

These are so quick and easy to make, I didn’t stop at one.  I actually made a dozen in less than 30 minutes.

Another favorite for me this year, is the Christmas Nugget Box which contains 3 wrapped Hershey’s Nuggets.  This is a thoughtful gift for those on your list you want to give something, but can’t spend a lot of money. The cute bow on top is made with the Bow Builder punch which happens to be 50% off this week only! Please click Here to see more pictures and directions to make this box.

Welcome to our Blog Hop!

This time we are focusing on all things Thanksgiving! Get ready for some great ideas, inspiration, tips, resources and how-to as you move along through the blog hop.

I love hosting Thanksgiving at my house each year!  The first thing I do is send out homemade invitations.  Here’s the invitations I sent the last two years.

The second card is much prettier without the X’s, but since I already have around 25 people coming to Thanksgiving, I didn’t really want to invite anyone else!  🙂

I also like to make a set of place cards for the adult table and a different set for the kids table.  At our house the oldest 12 people are at the adult table and everyone else is a kid, or kid at heart.  Sorry Sean…there are so many people coming this year, you may get demoted.

The adult place cards all had leaves, but you can see each place card was a little different.

The kids all had turkeys, but again each turkey was unique.  I love the googly eyes on the turkeys.

Last year I decided to make place card/treat combos.  The adults got my husband’s delicious homemade fudge.  At the State Fair Steve always wins second place in every fudge category he enters, so I tease him he’s the Second Best Fudge Maker in Iowa.  Even second best is honestly quite a feat in Iowa!

Last year the Stampin’ Up! Paper Pumpkin (Monthy subscription craft box) included these pie shaped boxes.  We poured Steve’s fudge into pie pans and everyone got a pie shaped slice of fudge to take home.

The kids got these Curvy Keepsake Box turkeys filled with Reese Peanut Butter cups.  I think most of the turkeys went home empty, but they loved having their names on the turkeys.

I also enjoy making little treats at Thanksgiving for my kid’s teachers and friends.  Here’s a box that fits a full size Snickers or Milky Way.

Another box I’m giving away this year, is made with the Square Pillow Box Thinlit Die.
