2016badge-watermelon

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for April 2016.  We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month we are featuring projects that are all about our families. This is a great time of year to think about what to make for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or upcoming graduations. And, family vacations are just around the corner… how would you want to remember those special family moments? We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

I love making boxes! I got the idea for this box from Pootles, a UK demo.  Do you see the triangles on the side?  In real life, this box is adorable! I made these Faceted Mother’s Day boxes for my Mom and Steve’s Mom.  They are about two inches tall and three inches wide, so there’s plenty of room for chocolate or a gift certificate.  Have you thought about what you are making for the special “Moms” in your life?

When I showed the boxes to my design assistant, Abby, she said, “Oh did you make those boxes for yourself, because you’re the best mother ever!.”  I love my seventeen year old daughter and I think she’s the best daughter ever!

More Tin of Cards- Alternative cards

I had one more card to make from my Tin of Cards kit when I noticed that this week’s Use Your Stuff Challenge  is to use Kraft cardstock.  Fab Friday’s Color Challenge this week is Calypso Coral, Pool Party, and So Saffron.  I combined the two challenges and created this card.  It’s hard to tell in the picture, but the butterflies are heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  Each butterfly also has 3 pearls down the center.

I wanted a matching polka dot envelope so I used the Designer Series Paper Stacks-Subtles.

Here’s some more cards from the Tin of Cards kit.  Yes, Janeen, these are yours!  Janeen and her very talented sixth grade son were at my Tin of Cards class, but didn’t have time to finish before they needed to leave for soccer practice. I finished these three for them. Note to everyone who comes to my classes- if you want me to make some of your cards for you, just say you need to go to soccer practice and I’ll get the rest done for you. 🙂  Hope you like them Janeen!  I’ll drop them off today!

Super Man took Keegan to our Okoboji Bible camp this weekend to help the camp get ready for the summer.  Unfortunately Super Man got super sick.  We think he got food poisoning. (Not from the camp, but from a restaurant they went to Saturday night.) Super Man drives a manual transmission car and decided to teach Keegan a little bit on how to drive it on Saturday morning.  Good thing, because after his short lesson yesterday, Keegan had to drive Super Man all the way home today.  He only stalled three times on a four hour drive.  Not bad for day two of driving with a stick shift!  Keegan is 15 and has a driving permit.

Abby and I stayed home because she had vocal concerts on Friday and Sunday and she babysat her four favorite boys on Saturday night.  The three year old told her she was his best friend!  That made her day!  Her vocal concerts were really good too!  Hope you had a good weekend!

Blessings,

Beth 🙂

#imbringingbirthdaysback

Jean, my weekend walking friend of 25 years, took pity on me today and helped me as I tried to make as many birthday cards as possible for the #imbringingbirthdaysback campaign.  If you want me to send you a birthday card, send me your address and birthday!  Here’s what we came up with today.  Some of the cards will need to be quicker than this one, but I really like how it turned out.  We were inspired by a Julie Davidson card.

We used the Party Pop-Up Thinlits Dies.  The same ones I wasn’t going to buy when the 2016 Occasions catalog came out and now I will never get rid of them!

Even the inside of the card is cute!

I told you Jean is my weekend walking friend.  Jean and I have done one marathon together.  The Lake Tahoe Marathon- Imagine our surprise when we got there and found out the race wasn’t around the shore of the lake, it was in the surrounding mountains.  We ended up walking up the mountains and running down them.  They gave us a license plate holder when we finished. Because I will never, ever, ever do another marathon, my car needs to always have the “Lake Tahoe Marathon Finisher,” licence plate holder attached.  We’ve also done three half marathons in Des Moines.  Des Moines is a lot flatter than the mountains surrounding Lake Tahoe! We’ve also spent countless weekend hours walking and talking.  Jean is very patient.  I talk and she listens.  What more can you ask for than a good friend that listens and loves to come help make cards!  I always be there for you Jean, and let me know if you ever need to talk!

Beth 🙂
